Cookie policy
Chop Awoof is operated by Ingena Labs Ltd ("Ingena Labs", "we", "us"). This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on this website (chopawoof.com) and the customer website (app.chopawoof.com), and how to change your choice. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal data more widely.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser, so it can remember something between pages or visits. Websites can also keep information in your browser's local storage, which works in a similar way. We treat the two the same here.
Cookies we need
These keep the customer website working and secure, so they are always on. They are not used for advertising and are not shared with Meta.
- Sign-in cookies (
access_token,session_token,session_meta,signed_in,profile_pending): keep you signed in. They end when your session ends. - Verification code cookie (
otp_challenge): connects a one-time code to your sign-in attempt. It lasts until the code expires. - Device identifier (
device_fingerprint): recognises your browser to help protect your account. It lasts 1 year. - Pickup location (
pickup_location): remembers the location you chose, so we can show what is nearby. It lasts 180 days. - Intro screens (
intro_seen): remembers that you have seen the intro screens. It lasts 180 days.
On production the customer website adds __Host- to the start of these names, which stops other sites on our domain from reading or changing them.
Your browser also keeps some things on your device outside cookies, and we do not send them to Meta. Local storage holds your cookie choice, your light or dark theme, your cart before you sign in, a payment in progress, a sign-out waiting for a connection, and the orders already counted for ad measurement. Each stays until the site removes it or you clear your browser's site data. Session storage holds the phone number and details you entered while we check your verification code, until you finish or close the tab.
Optional advertising cookies
These run only if you accept them. If you decline or do not answer, Meta's code is not loaded at all.
_fbp(Meta Pixel): recognises your browser across visits so visits and orders can be counted. It lasts about 90 days from your last visit._fbc(Meta Pixel): set when you arrive by clicking a Meta ad, and records that click. It lasts about 90 days.
When Meta Pixel runs, it sends Meta the pages you open, the offers you view, what you add to your cart and the value of what you buy, along with your browser details and IP address. Meta's own cookies in your browser, such as those set if you use Facebook or Instagram, may be sent too, which can link the visit to your account there. Meta may process this outside Nigeria. Meta explains how it uses this data in its own privacy policy.
Other companies' cookies
The map on the customer website is provided by Google, which may use its own cookies when the map loads. Card payments take place on Paystack's own pages, where Paystack's cookies apply. We do not control these cookies.
Changing your choice
You can change your choice at any time, and it takes effect straight away.
- On the customer website: open Cookie settings. You can also find it in your account menu, at the bottom of the page on a computer, and on the sign-in screen.
- On this website: use the Cookie settings button at the bottom of the page, when optional cookies are in use here.
The two sites keep separate choices, and each choice applies only to the browser you make it in. Declining after you have accepted removes the _fbp and _fbc cookies and stops Meta Pixel. It does not recall what was already sent to Meta. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but blocking the cookies we need will stop you signing in.
