Terms of service

Chop Awoof is operated by Ingena Labs Ltd ("Ingena Labs", "Chop Awoof", "we", "us"), a company incorporated in Nigeria. These terms govern your use of this website, the Chop Awoof customer website at app.chopawoof.com, the Chop Awoof customer app, and your orders placed through the customer website or the app. By using any of them, you agree to these terms. If you are a merchant, separate Merchant Terms also apply to you.

What Chop Awoof is

Chop Awoof is a marketplace connecting Lagos restaurants, bukas, fast-food outlets and supermarkets that have surplus food with customers who want to buy it at a discount. We do not prepare, cook, package or sell food ourselves. The merchant you order from is the seller of the food; Chop Awoof provides the marketplace, payment handling and pickup coordination.

Listings come in two formats: Specific Offers (an exact item or dish, guaranteed) and Mystery Bags (a fixed-price bag of surplus food, with category, minimum guaranteed value, possible contents, exclusions and allergens disclosed up front, but exact contents not guaranteed — see our Pickup & Safety Guidance for what this means in practice).

Pickup only

All orders are collected by the customer from the merchant's premises during the stated pickup window shown before you pay. Chop Awoof does not offer delivery and has no delivery service planned at this time. Pickup windows are time-sensitive: if you do not collect within the window (plus any grace period shown with your order), the order is marked as missed and is not refunded — see our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Payments and Awoof Balance

Payments are processed in Nigerian naira through Paystack, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number. If an order does not go ahead — because a merchant rejects it, it is not confirmed before it times out, you cancel it before the merchant confirms, or we cancel it for a safety reason — you are refunded in full to your Awoof Balance, a credit held in your Chop Awoof account. Full details, including how to request a cash payout of eligible balance, are in our Awoof Balance Terms and Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Merchant responsibilities

Merchants are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, including allergen and ingredient disclosures, for the safety and legality of the food they list, and for fulfilling confirmed orders during the stated pickup window. Merchants are independent businesses, not employees or agents of Chop Awoof. See our Merchant Standards & Food Safety Policy.

Customer responsibilities

You are responsible for collecting your order within the stated pickup window, for reviewing allergen and content information before purchasing, and for inspecting your order's visible condition and accuracy at pickup and raising any concern promptly. Inspecting or collecting your order does not waive your right to report food that is unsafe, spoiled, or materially different from its listing — see our Pickup & Safety Guidance.

Limitation of liability

Chop Awoof operates the marketplace that connects merchants and customers; it does not prepare, inspect, or certify the food sold by merchants, and does not hold or operate any independent food safety certification scheme. Merchants remain responsible for the food they list and sell. We are not liable for losses caused by a merchant's acts or omissions, except where we have agreed to assist in resolving a dispute as described in our policies, or where liability cannot lawfully be excluded under Nigerian consumer protection law. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right you have under Nigerian law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Complaints and disputes

If something goes wrong with an order, contact us at admin@chopawoof.com. We will look into it and respond. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for how refund-eligible situations are handled.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service develops. A material change will show you an updated version to review and accept again before it applies to you. We will update the date on this page whenever we do.

Governing law

These terms are intended to be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, including the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 where applicable to personal data.
